Hey guys! I hope you all are doing great!

Today I am going to do something a little different and I am going to tell you about the little guy who inspired me to start this blog with my sister and how he got here!

Now I am not going to lie! Liam was a very big surprise to me and Levi because we were not in anyway trying to get pregnant! I was actually on birth control so a baby was the last thing on our minds! Buuuutttttt God had a different plan!

The day I found out I was pregnant was a big shock! I was at work and I kept having cramps in my back like I was going to start my “girly thing” so I was constantly going to the bathroom thinking it was that time!

Finally on one of my million trips to the bathroom I decided to take a look at my tracker app to see if it was in fact time for that unwanted visitor that visits us every month, and it turns out I was exactly 2 weeks late! Instantly my mind said “omg You’re pregnant” but then after a few seconds that thought drifted away because I was on birth control! So I played it off that I was just stressed out and my body was out of wack and that visitor would show up in a few days!

But as the work day went on I just couldn’t get the thought of possibly being pregnant out of my mind! So finally I decided to talk to one of my coworkers and good friend at the time to see what she thought about the situation! As soon as I told her what was going on she told me I needed to go home after work and take a pregnancy test. She was so excited for me but I couldn’t help but feel a little sick about the whole situation! Not because I didn’t want to be a mom but because I didn’t know if Levi and I were ready to be parents! I mean we had been dating for several years but we weren’t even engaged and I was really worried what my family would think!

Anyway, when I got off work I headed to Walmart to get a pregnancy test! First of all, those little pee sticks are expensive or at least they are when you are a broke college student and there are so many options that you feel like you are trying to pick out a prom dress for your high school prom. After standing in the isle for about 15 minutes I finally decided on a pack of three that weren’t the cheap ones because I wanted to make sure they worked and not the most expensive ones because I needed to be able to eat that week!

As I was walking to checkout I made sure to casually keep these hidden because all I had to do was make it to the self checkout, but as I was walking I swear it felt like everyone was watching me and knew exactly what I was buying! I was so relieved when I finally made it out to my car!

Once I got home I drank some water so I would have to go to the bathroom! Levi actually had night class that night and wouldn’t be home until about 9:00 so I was going to be taking these test all alone! So once I had to go to the bathroom I decided it was time to take one!

Now I kid you not both lines turned pink like 10 seconds after I peed on that stick! I wasn’t really sure what to think! I sat down on my bathroom floor and kept telling myself to breath! Just to be sure the first test was right I decided to take the other two as well! Of course they said the exact same thing! The weird thing was at that moment I was so incredibly excited to become a mom and thats all I could think about for the first few minutes!

Then panic and worry flooded me like I was swimming in the ocean! How was I going to tell Levi? Is he going to be mad? What will my parents think? Will we be good parents? Can we afford to have a baby at this point in our life? But one thing I knew for sure already after minutes of finding out about this little bundle of joy was that I have never loved someone so much that I have never met in my entire life! Now everything thing I did would be for that tiny little life!

After I finally got myself together I decided I would call my best friend and have her come over because I really needed to tell someone and I couldn’t just text Levi and say “hey hows class by the way I’m pregnant”! When she arrived we both were in shock! We actually googled ways that could cause a pregnancy test to be positive without you actually being pregnant!

Eventually we finally told ourselves that we were crazy and that I was actually pregnant! Finally 9:00 came around and Levi got home! My friend stayed and talked for awhile but knew that I needed to tell Levi so headed out shortly after he got home!

Now when Levi got home he immediately started playing a video game online with his friends! Normally I don’t pay attention to how long these games take but that night it felt like they lasted forever! Finally he said “babe I’m going to play one more game.” That’s when I couldn't take waiting anymore and I finally said “alright but can you come to the kitchen real quick I need to talk to you.” Now I wanted to do this in the kitchen because the guys he was playing video games with could hear us on his headset if we did it in the living room!

Shortly after, he came to kitchen and asked if everything was ok. I said yes everything is fine and I handed him a card! The card said “roses are red, test lines are pink, look what we did baby what do you think,” and then I handed him all three of the test I took! I could tell at first that he was shocked but not mad! He took off running to the living room picked up his headset and told that guys he had to go! The guys sounded concerned and asked if everything was okay but Levi shut it off without telling them anything else!

It took a moment for the situation to really sink in but finally he looked at me smiled and said “I am going to be a Dad!” That’s when I knew everything was going to be fine! We might not have planned for this but we were ready! A few days later I told my sister and she was so excited!

The next step was telling our parents! We knew his parents would be super excited but we were afraid my parents would be upset because we weren’t married! It worked out that we got to tell my parents a couple of days before Christmas and his parents on Christmas so it made the holidays even more exciting!

We told my parents with a Christmas ornament that had my first sonogram in it! When they opened it their eyes lite up! They were beyond excited and the worry and fear left me and Levi like it was never even there! Now that they were told, telling everyone else would be easy!

We told Levi’s parents on Christmas morning! I bought I picture frame for his mom and put pictures of us that we had taken that fall in it and in the middle I put a picture of the sonogram! For his dad we bought a shirt that said “Worlds best Grandpa!” We had them open the presents at the same time! Their reaction was priceless and Levi's mom literally tackled him!

Anyway fast forward.....I had a pretty easy pregnancy so I won’t go into details on that!

When I finally turned 38 weeks pregnant I started walking, bouncing on a yoga ball, taking warm showers, basically anything I could do to go into labor! At the end of my pregnancy I was measuring a couple of weeks ahead so my doctor thought for sure Liam would come a few weeks early! Turns out that was not the case! I mean seriously guys look at me! My belly was huge!

I had a few contractions everyday for the last two weeks of my pregnancy but nothing that was consistent and I never dilated past a 3 on my own! So when my appointment rolled around at 39 weeks pregnant my doctor told me that at my next appointment we would schedule a time for me to be induced since I was not progressing on my own!

My next appointment was scheduled for a couple of days after my due date which was July 24th!

That weekend I continued walking and bouncing and still no progress so I finally just decided to wait until my next appointment because nothing was going to happen until then! When the 24th rolled around Levi called me that morning and said I needed to meet him in Fairland Oklahoma to look at a house that we could possibly rent so he could be closer to work! I hadn’t had any contractions that day and felt pretty normal so I agreed to meet him there at 4:30. It is about an hour away from where we live so I left at 3:00 and got there about 20 minutes before Levi!

As I was sitting there I of course ended up having to pee, so I texted Levi and told him I was going to run to the gas station to use the restroom. As I was getting ready to sit down and go pee I had a contraction like no contraction I had before! I mean the pain made me double over! It didn’t last long so I just figured it was another Braxton Hicks contraction and went back to the house!

Levi still wasn’t there so I had to wait in my car a bit longer! 10 minutes past and I had another painful strong contraction! I called Levi to let him know what was going on and that we had time to look at the house because I wasn’t really sure if I was in labor! As we were walking through this house I continued to have contractions but they weren’t really consistent so I wasn't in a big hurry!

On my drive home with Levi driving behind me the contractions continued! Levi could tell by my face in the mirror when I was having one! They still weren’t consistent so we decided to go back to our house and eat dinner an continue to time them! Around 8:00 p.m my contractions were consistent and 10 minutes apart! That was when we decided to head to the hospital! They checked me in and I was still only at a 3 but my water was slowly leaking so they admitted me! Levi and I were so excited and the dream of finally getting to meet our precious baby boy was coming true!

I worked through contractions all night and that morning they started patocin! Shortly after they started patocin my contractions got super intense so I got an epidural (which was my plan the whole time) props to the mothers who do it all natural there is no way I could of!

After that labor was a breeze! I even took a couple of naps! It wasn’t until around 5:00 that evening that it was time for me to push! I didn’t have any pain but I could feel pressure! When the nurse and Levi said they could see his head a thought for sure we would be meeting our baby boy soon! But turns out that was not the case! I pushed for three and a half hours and eventually my doctor came in and said Liam had been in the birth canal for to long and we needed to do a c-section! Honestly in that moment I was so relieved because I literally could not push anymore but I was still really scared and from the look on Levi's face I could tell he was to!

Now this might be a little to much information but it is to funny not to share! When my doctor came in and said I was having a c-section Levi said she put her hand on top of Liam’s head and just pushed him right back up there and he was gone! I was pretty out of it at this time from pushing so much that I don’t remember much from this point!

I remember getting pushed back to the operating room and being able to feel them cutting on me because they didn’t have me numb enough at first but once they upped my dose of whatever they gave I was out of it!

Finally at 8:34 on July 25th 2017 Liam came into world weighing 7lbs 6.6 oz and was 20 inches long!

After all that craziness was over they got me stitched back up and back to our room! Levi and Liam came in shortly after but my body was in shock from going through that trauma so I was shaking uncontrollably and still really out of it!

Since I wasn’t able to do skin to skin my amazing fiancé let the nurse talk him in to doing skin on skin with Liam to get him calmed down because his heart rate was a little high due to all the trauma he went through as well!

I so wish I would of been awake to see this  moment and of course Levi would not let the nurse take his picture!

It took about 45 minutes for me to come around and that’s when I finally got to hold my son for the first time! It was literally the best thing in the entire world!

God knew what he was doing when he surprised us with this little blessing and we defiantly wouldn’t have it any other way!

If you have a fun birth story or pregnancy story share below! I would love to hear all about it!

Thanks for taking the time to read this super long post!

Talk to you soon! -Sara
