Hey guys,

I hope you all are having a wonderful Thursday morning! Right now the weather here is all rainy and nasty and I all I want to do is go back to bed but unfortunately that is not going to happen! For one I am at school today so I have back to back classes with one break and I have a one year old so even if I was at home we all know there could be no sleeping going on with a little monster on the loose! But while I am on my break I thought I would share my new obsession with you guys!

For those of you who don't know me very well, I am not a big makeup girl! I am not good at doing makeup, I never feel like I have enough time to do my makeup, and when I do I am not confident about the way it looks! For some reason every time I put foundation on it always looks good for an hour and then it starts to look super cakey and it never covers up the blemishes on my face like I want it to! I have used every kind of foundation you can think of! From Mac Studio that cost me $30, Covergirl that cost me $7, and basically everything else in between!

I have read blog post that give tips on how to prevent cakey foundation and for some reason I could never find anything that worked for me! I know everyone has different skin and one persons tips might not work for someone else. So if you are like me, doing my makeup just started to become something that I hated and started not doing all together! Not because I hated makeup but because it didn't actually make me feel any prettier. I know, we aren't suppose to need makeup to feel pretty but when my makeup is done right and looks like it is suppose my confident level sky rockets and I know yours probably does as well!

So today I am going to share with you the exact products and steps I take that have helped me overcome the cakey foundation look and actually makes me feel more confident in my own skin! There is one product that is the main reason that all my makeup problems have vanished and I can not wait to share it with you!

So lets dive right on in!

Step #1: Diaper wipe face wash: The first thing I do every morning before I put any makeup on is I wipe my face down and scrub all the dried or dead skin off of my face with a baby wipe! I use parents choice wipes and I normally get the ones that smell nice because I like things that smell good. I really focus on my forehead, nose, and chin because these are the places on my face that have the worst dry skin and if I do not get that dry skin off then my foundation starts flaking off and looks really bad! This step is something I have to do in order to have my makeup look the way I want it! So try it out, it might help you also!

Step #2: Primer: Once I have my face cleaned off and free of dead skin I put a primer on my face! I use the the e.l.f Poreless Face Primer! What I do is I apply a couple of drops on my fingers and I rub it all over my face. I am always sure to get my problem areas really good which is my forehead in between my eyebrows, my nose, and chin. Once I have applied it I let it dry or set for 3-5 minutes before applying my foundation. I know that us moms sometimes don't have an extra 3-5 minutes to wait around so you can go ahead and apply your foundation immediately. I have done this I just don't believe my foundation stays in place as long as it should if I rush the process! My sister was the one who actually introduced me to this product and I fell in love! It makes my face so soft and I love it! I started using this right before I got married in June and it helped my foundation stay on longer and not get as cakey as fast! It still wasn't the solution to all my problems but it did help a lot and one of the best things is, is that you can get it at Walmart and it won't break the bank! When I was reading other blog post the products they recommend were products that cost $40 t0 $50 a tube and that is just something I will not do because I need that money to go towards other much needed things! So when my sister introduced me to this product and you could get it and Walmart and it only cost around $7 I was a little skeptical about it I am not going to lie! But I tried it once and I knew that it had to become a part of my everyday makeup routine. So try it out! I know it isn't for everyone so if you don't like it and it doesn't work for you I totally understand!

Step #3: Apply foundation with my fingers: Now I know this is probably way different then what you have been told or what you have seen and thats okay! This application process is what works for me and it could be what works for you! What I do is a put a couple of drops of my foundation on my fingers and I rub them together and then I rub the foundation all over my face. I use my fingers to help spread and apply the foundation evenly, while working it into my skin. Now everyone can agree on this, you don't want your foundation to just sit on top of your skin, You want it to absorb into your skin and look as natural as possible! I realized that for me the only way to make sure I was really working my foundation into my skin was by using my fingers! This may work for you and it may not but this was a big game changer on how my makeup began looking and staying on better! So try it out, it might be just what you need to help your makeup game! Now I currently have 2 different foundations that I use for different occasions and I found that this application process works well for both types of foundation! The two foundations I use is Mac Studio because that is what I got for my wedding , and Wet N Wild Photo Focus foundation because it is cheap but still works well for me! I only use my Mac Studio when I am going to an important event, such as a wedding or date night with my husband! Wet N Wild is what I use for my everyday use, such as going to class or going to the grocery store! Both work great for me now that I have started applying them to my face by using my fingers! If you are up to trying something new or are needing something to try and help your makeup problems try this out, you might love it!

Step #5: Makeup sponge fix: After I feel like I have my foundation spread evenly all over my face and it is worked in really well I take my makeup sponge and just blot it all over my face. This helps fix any lines I may have missed and just is extra help to make sure my foundation is blended well! This is an easy step and that is basically all there is to it! Once this step is done I let my foundation sit for a couple of minutes before I move on to my next step! This just helps the foundation absorb into my skin so it will stay in place longer!

Step #6: Tissue Blotter: Now that my foundation has had time to absorb I take a tissue and I blot it all around my face! This helps get any excess amount of foundation off my face that is still sitting on top of my skin! I have found that if I have to much foundation on my face it causes it to get cakey! So this step is one that I make sure to never skip!

Step #7: Sitting Powder: Last but not least this is the step where I tell you about my new favorite makeup product and why it has become my new obsession! I love love love this product and it is the thing that changed my makeup game completely! Now it doesn't matter what type of foundation I use because this powder always keeps everything in place! Are you ready to hear it???? Alright, here we go! My secret weapon is the e.l.f Prime and Stay Finishing Face Powder! This stuff is amazing and guess what.......it only cost $2! Yes you heard me right $2! This powder is amazing and I love it! All I do is once I have blotted my face with a tissue I take a makeup brush rub it on the powder then I pat it all over my face! Super easy and super quick and it holds everything bit of foundation where it is suppose to stay! No more cakey look for me! I love doing my makeup now and I feel beautiful after I do it! My husband has even made comments about how much better my makeup has been looking and how much more confident I seem to be when I do it! I know this product isn't for everyone and I am sure there are people out there who hate, but it is what works for me and my skin! If you are trying to find something that works for you try it out! You might love just like me!

There it is, my 7 steps to a non-cakey makeup look and the product that changed it all! I hope that this has helped you in some way, rather it be finding a tip that you want to try or learning a new technique that you never thought of! I just know that if someone reads this and they try it out and it changes their makeup game like it changed mine, my goal has been accomplished!

Thank you guys so much for stopping by and taking the time to read this blog post! Stay tuned for my makeup tutorial where I show you all the products I use and all the steps I take to have non-cakey makeup! I can't wait to talk to you guys soon!

Have a great day,

Sara
