READ READ READ!

I can not stress this enough. Reading is one simple activity you can do everyday with your children that will help them learn! I have been reading to Liam since we found out I was pregnant and my sister Stephanie did the same thing with her kiddos!

I know this might sound silly but trust me it makes a huge difference!

Liam has really come to love story time and it is a main part of his nightly routine! Reading him a story lets him know that it is almost bedtime. It calms him down and relaxes him and shortly after his story he falls asleep!

Ellie my niece is three years old but her vocabulary is absolutely amazing! People are constantly thinking she is older then she really is! When someone asks Stephanie what she did in order to make Elli's vocabulary so big she says "reading." Now of course this isn't the only factor but it is a big one! The benefits of reading are vast! Below are a few that I really want to share with you!

Language Development: Children learn to talk by hearing us as parents or guardians talk. Yes we know it is hard to look at your 6 month old and talk to him or her like an adult so this is where reading comes in! Books are a great way to expose your children to a large amount of vocabulary words without feeling silly!

Exercise: Reading is exercise for the brain! The more you do it the better your children will be at!

Improves Concentration: When children read or are being read to regularly they are practicing skills such as sitting still and focusing. The more they practice the longer they will be able to apply this skills. TRUST US, THEIR FUTURE TEACHERS WILL LOVE THIS!

Improves memory: This is one that a lot of people do not even think about. When a child is reading or being read to they are using the part of their brain that helps develop their memory. They are doing so by memorizing the characters and events that are taking place in the story they are reading. How awesome is this!!!

Exposes children to different parts of the world: When children read they can learn about people, places, and events that happen outside of their own lives!

Improves imagination: When children are reading they are using their imaginations to decide how the characters look or places look in the book that they are engaged in.

Bonding: Reading is a great way for you as parents to bond with your baby and your kids.

Reading is fun!!!!: Although reading has a lot of benefits the number one reason for us is because it is fun! If your children are exposed to reading and see you get excited about reading they are more likely to enjoy reading when they get older!

One thing that I have available for Liam to help him get excited about reading is his own personal library!

Liam's very own Library!

Let me know how your children like reading!

Do you guys have personal libraries in your home? If so I would love to see them!

If reading isn't a regular thing you do with your kids, don't worry it is never to late to start!

Remember reading can make a big difference!

Thanks for stopping by and I hope this post was helpful!

Talk to you soon!
